A startup from Halle is researching a formula for triple e-car range

Norcsi uses silicon instead of graphite for its batteries. This should increase performance by up to 200 percent - at least in theory. The research has already received VC funding.
Tesla models are currently the main winners in electric car range tests. The Tesla Model S manages 610 kilometers under optimal conditions. However, city driving in freezing temperatures, which leads to high energy consumption, noticeably shrinks the operating range even of the flagship e-car. Car companies and battery manufacturers around the world are therefore feverishly researching ways to increase the storage capacity of batteries. This is a billion-dollar market in which the young startup Norcsi from Halle also wants to play a role.
